Hi
Everyone,
This week our hearts and
attention have been focused
on the terrible, hideous
tragedy at Virgina Tech in
which the lives of 32
innocent, full of life and
very loved people were
snuffed out in an instant by
a madman. I would like to
extend my deepest
condolences to all involved
and their families and
friends. It's a tragedy that
shouldn't have happened.
While I have have your
attention and I'm on the
subject of tragedies that
shouldn't happen, I'd like
to present a little food for
thought for you all.
According to the page at
this URL
http://www.alcoholalert.com/deathclock.html
and as of today - April
20th, 2007 at 2:45 pm - 5008
people have been killed in
drunk driving related
accidents in the U.S. since
the BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. I
did the math on this and we
are 110 days into 2007.
Divide 5008 by 110 and you
get 45.53.
This means that there is an
average of 45 PEOPLE DYING
EVERY SINGLE DAY in this
Country in drunk driving
related accidents. That is
13 more people EACH AND
EVERY DAY than died at
Virgina Tech on Monday at
the hands of a psychpath
with weapons in his hands.
Is a several thousand pound
vehicle being operated by
someone completely
intoxicated or high on drugs
a weapon, also? The answer
is YES.
Food for thought? - I would
certainly say so.
April is NATIONAL ALCOHOL
AWARENESS MONTH. In honor of
that and to spread the
important message presented
in my drunk driving themed
song, "I WASN'T A FRIEND", I
have started a new myspace
page.
Don't be a statistic and
don't let anyone you know or
love become one, either.
Please join me there and in
the fight against drunk
driving.
Thank you, everyone!
